Using Noninvasive Treatment to Manage Respiratory Distress in Pediatric Patients– Respiratory distress is a common reason for visits to the emergency department. Intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation are critical interventions, but there are definite risks associated with this treatment. In appropriately selected patients, Noninvasive Ventilation (NIV) may be an extremely valuable alternative to intubation.
